Our Founder

The founder of US Ghost Adventures developed a passion for preserving history and making a positive impact through his military service and extensive travels. These experiences gave him a deep appreciation for the power of stories and the importance of honoring the past. At US Ghost Adventures, we do more than share ghost stories; we strive to keep history alive.

Every ghost was a person once, with a life. The lives of others are endlessly fascinating, and the people who are the ghosts of Charlotte lived captivating lives. Charlotte has long been a significant town in the region; it’s at the hub of several rail lines, and the interstate highway today follows an approximate route from an old Indian trade path. This draw has made Charlotte a center for trade since before, there was a house even called Charlotte. With trade comes people, and with people come conflicts and passions, and the residue of that is nearly always ghosts.

Why is Charlotte so Haunted?

There is certainly no shortage of stories to share, but why might this be? The many ups and downs of Charlotte’s economic fortunes have added to human conflict and tragedy. During the great depression, the many suicides by people who jumped from the Dunhill Hotel’s higher floors have left a distinct trace that has been felt for years. 

Pain, loss, and unrest are not easily forgotten. In Charlotte, this sorrow seems to have taken root, making it a city where restless spirits still walk, bound to the places where history left its deepest wounds. Join us on a nighttime ghost tour around Charlotte’s Uptown neighborhood. Our tour offers a slice through all the layers of haunted history in the Queen City.

Some of Our Favorite Locations

Charlotte is filled with haunted spots that hold stories both chilling and tragic. Here are a few of our favorite locations that never fail to leave an impression:

• Old Settlers Cemetery: The final resting place of many of Charlotte’s earliest residents, but not all found peace. Grave robbers once prowled these grounds, and the infamous spirit known as “The Devil Charlie” is said to still lurk among the headstones.

• First Presbyterian Church: Home to the ghost of Ambrose, a man accidentally buried alive. His restless spirit has been seen wandering the grounds, perhaps still searching for the air that was cruelly taken from him.

• Charlotte Fire Department Station 4: A firehouse that has seen its share of tragedy. Rumor has it that some of its bravest firefighters never left, still standing guard as ghostly figures have been spotted in the station to this day.
